Bale King roller style processors have been trusted by producers for over 30 years. The 5400 builds on that foundation with a new frame, processing tub, and rotor to further enhance its capabilities. The new frame provides outstanding access to the rotor for twine removal while the re-engineered processing unit improves bale rotation, feeding consistency, and cleanout. To expand versatility, a new Rotary Straw Assist kit is available to win the battle against the toughest bales.

Add our patented 3-bale kit for extra capacity. Its unique grapple arms carry a third bale in otherwise wasted space without any trade-off in maneuverability. It’s a game-changer when you’re bouncing across rough ground and navigating gates while making multiple trips to your cows.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the standard 2-bale configuration can be upgraded to 3-bale capacity at any time. Adding grain to your operation? The 5400 is compatible with the 40-bushel rear-discharge grain tank.

Processed bales require less energy to digest, helping improve feed efficiency, while windrowing ensures every cow gets equal access to the ration. Bale King processors are also a top choice for bedding straw, with many operators reporting up to three times more coverage per bale compared to simply rolling it out.

Bale King’s X-Rotor delivers, over and above the standard pipe-style rotors:

Enhanced Coverage: The fan-shaped profile moves more air, delivering greater straw spreading distance and improved bedding efficiency.
Simplified Twine Removal: The unique X design creates a cavity beneath the twine or netting, allowing you to cut it cleanly with a utility knife—no more struggling against steel pipes.
Built for Durability: The X rotor allows greater rearward flail movement, reducing metal fatigue and minimizing noise for a longer-lasting, quieter machine.

The 27″ diameter rotor at 7000 ft/min flail speed, combined with 28 flails on hardened bushings provides exceptional aggression and durability.

Standard 1000 RPM Driveline

The standard 1000 RPM driveline with shearbolt protection powers a low-maintenance gearbox—no belts or chains to mess with. The 80-degree constant velocity PTO shaft gives you extra maneuverability in tight quarters.

Twin Bale Rollers

With four rows of wide paddles, get the traction you need for a range of bale types. These low-maintenance rollers offer effective bale manipulation and are unaffected by snow and ice freezing in the tub.

High Torque Hydraulic Motors

Direct-drive bale rollers, powered by high-torque hydraulic motors, deliver efficient, low-maintenance performance. With integrated flow and pressure protection, the system guards against overloads and extends component life—even under demanding conditions.

Improved Hoop Grate

Alternating height and length slug bars reduces friction while controlling flow through the rotor. An ergonomic adjustment handle on the drivers side allows easy access and wide range of travel for varying bale types.

Twine Guards

Protect your bearings with twine guards on both ends of the rotor and bale rollers.

Adjustable Loading Fork

Accommodate various bale sizes with the adjustable loading fork. The pointed forks are more forgiving of misalignment or uneven ground when backing into a bale to load it. Tine length has been increased by 5” to provide secure grip in more conditions.

Standard 16.5X16.1 Tires

Handle any load with a smoother ride. These standard tires can navigate rough ground and, with more flotation, maintain traction in even the muddiest conditions.

Heavyweight Rubber Flap

The heavy-duty rubber flap guides processed hay into clean windrows or directly into the bunk for efficient feeding. When bedding, simply flip the flap up and use the hydraulic main deflector to place straw precisely where you want it—no wasted material, no guesswork.

Upgrade Kits & Options

3-Bale Kit

Exclusive to Bale King, the 3-Bale Kit lets you carry an additional bale with ease—saving both time and money. This bolt-on upgrade can be installed at the factory or in the field, and features a hydraulic grapple that securely holds the second bale while the third is being loaded.

Want even more capacity? Carry a fourth bale on your front-end loader. Don’t need to? No problem—the third bale rides where it should: on the processor. That means better road visibility, less stress on your front axle, and reduced maneuvering in tight pastures.

Fine Chop Kit

Enhance your processor’s performance, delivering a finer, more consistent chop—perfect for long greenfeed or silage.

The Fine-Chop Kit features a row of adjustable-height knives with three settings—full height, half height, and fully retracted. Adjustments are quick and tool-free, so you can fine-tune performance on the go.

The kit is easy to install yourself or can be added as a factory option—whichever suits your operation best.

Total Ration Kit

Upgrade your Bale King 5400 with the 40-Bushel Total Ration (TR) Kit—a bolt-on solution that lets you feed a complete ration in a single pass.

This kit includes a low-profile, side-mounted grain tank with a rear-discharge auger system. Designed to drop grain directly onto processed windrows, it also features independently controlled hydraulic augers—giving you the flexibility to fill feed troughs or create grain piles as needed.

Equipped with large 6″ augers, the TR Kit handles grain and most feed cubes with ease. A built-in flow control valve makes ration adjustment quick and simple, while the wide lid opening ensures easy, hassle-free filling.

Rotary Straw Assist Kit

Wheat straw combined on a hot day behind a rotary combine can make some notoriously tough bales. When the net pops, they expand and disintegrate giving the bale rollers little to work with. The Rotary Straw Assist Kit provides a hydraulic boost with the flip of a switch. The 4-pronged lever lifts a portion of the bale up reducing resistance for the rest of the bale. When complete, retract the assist to clean out the tub.

Back-up Camera Kit

Enhance your 5400 with a camera and eliminate the guesswork of bale loading. Designed to attach to the rear axle, the camera provides a fork-level view for precise, frustration-free loading—perfect for 3-bale machines or handling multiple stacks.
